Holiday Wishes from Pongo Youth Writers

Holiday Wishes from Pongo Youth Writers

During this holiday season all of us are keeping the youth writers we serve – young people who are separated from their families, friends, and community – at the top of our minds.

“My Family,” the above poem, was authored by young person at the Echo Glen Children’s Center last year. “My Family” finds this youth author reflecting on the love they have for their siblings, and cherished childhood memories of holiday seasons past.

The sorrow this young person describes underscores one of the most important benefits of the programming Pongo provides for young people; a reminder that even in the midst of their isolation, the community they are disconnected from still cares for, and supports them.
