Join ‘What Words Can Hold’ on October 8th!

Thursday October 8th
6:00 – 8:00pm PSTFolio Seattle
93 Pike St #307, Seattle, WA 98101
Event Overview
What comes to mind when you hear about Pongo’s work? Perhaps its poetry, or youth mental health, or mentorship? Do you know how Pongo goes about engaging youth in the writing process; youth who ultimately write beautiful, heartbreaking poems about their most sensitive feelings and life experiences? For answers to these questions and more, join us at ‘What Words Can Hold’ this fall!
On Thursday October 8th, join us at Folio Seattle for a firsthand look at how Pongo’s youth serving workshops–offered across detention centers and residential youth mental health facilities across the Seattle area–actually happen. Light refreshments will be provided.
With the help of experienced Pongo mentors, guests will be invited to participate in Pongo poetry writing activities, the very type we use in our youth poetry programming. Whether you’re familiar with Pongo or new to our work, this is the perfect opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the power of poetry writing, and how Pongo sparks youth healing through creative expression.

About Pongo
Pongo Poetry Project is a 31-year-old Seattle-based non-profit whose mission is to engage youth in writing poetry to inspire healing and growth. Pongo was founded on the knowledge that poetry writing offers a unique vessel for healing from devastating trauma.
At the heart of the program is the Pongo Method, an evidence-based, trauma-informed technique for teaching poetry, created in collaboration with child psychiatrists, expressive writing therapists, and academics. Pongo has developed an approach to help youth write about painful life experiences – often for the first time – in a way that promotes insight and healing.
Special Thanks
